In the midst of this Coronavirus Pandemic or Covid-19, everyone around the globe is pretty much affected by this issue. Most cities have implemented a lockdown in order to prevent further spreading of this virus. While we are mostly stuck at home, here are some 5 Pandemic Films to watch with eerie similarities to recent events.

28 Days Later (2003 film)

28 Days Later

A bicycle courier one day wakes up and discovers that London is completely deserted. While wandering around the city, he is soon attacked by humans infected with a highly-contagious, rage-inducing virus that has spread worldwide. The first scenes with the protagonist may feel exactly like what it’s like to get out and your city looks like a ghost town.

CABIN FEVER (2002 film)

Cabin Fever Film

If you are a fan of gore and graphic films then this 2002 American comedy-horror film is perfect for you. As a last hurrah after college, five friends embark on a vacation deep into the mountains. When one of them contracts an unknown disease that caused their flesh to bubble and burn, the remaining survivors quarantined the victim in a shed. While they are unsure of what to do with her, they also tried their best not to get contaminated themselves.

This film also has a sequel Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever, a third film, Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, and a 2016 remake.

World War Z (2013 film)

This apocalyptic horror film starring Brad Pitt is based on a 2006 novel of the same name. A family man (played by Brad Pitt) is doing normal family activities one day when their town was overrun with mindless, flesh-eating humans. Typical zombie films except the zombies are ridiculously fast and they are attracted to sounds. Which makes it extremely difficult to hide and survive.

Carriers (2009 film)

This 2009 apocalyptic-horror film is about 4 friends traveling to a secluded area and waiting for the viral pandemic that killed most of the population, to die out, and start their new lives. They have survived by following a list of rules. However, during their adventure, they encountered several people and challenges that will test their ethics of survival in a land where all hope is lost.

It’s kind of like Zombieland but humorless, dark, and somber.

This movie will also teach you the importance of wearing masks, especially now that we are in the midst of a global outbreak that spreads if an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks.

Contagion (2011 film)

contagion

Perhaps this film is the closest one to reality right now.

What happens when a viral outbreak spreads faster than you can even comprehend how serious it actually is, just like the COVID-19. This 2009 thriller film depicts how the world is affected when the spread of a virus becomes uncontrollable, how the bureaucrats and scientists react behind the scenes when a virus turns deadly for humans and how fast it can bring down civilizations.

It is wonderfully executed, well-researched, and convincing,  brilliantly-acted by several well-known actors that further increases the tension.
