As someone who’s always had a soft spot for fantasy, cosplay, and anything medieval, I couldn’t say no when I heard about Frost Faire PH 2024 — a Viking-themed event held last November 2024 in Bandolon Frosttown, Bacolod.
Even though I’m originally from Manila, I booked a flight to Bacolod just to experience it — and let me tell you, it was 100% worth it. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Bandolon Frosttown is a small Viking-themed resort tucked in the lush landscape of Bacolod. The setting itself already felt like a fantasy novel come to life — complete with wooden cabins, runestone vibes, and towering pines that made it feel like I was somewhere deep in the North.
My friends and I rented a cabin on-site, which made the whole thing feel even more immersive. Waking up in a Viking-style village? Yes, please.
Frost Faire PH 2024: LARPing, Quests, and Community
The entire weekend was filled with LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) — and not just casually. This was the real deal. There were:

🗺️ NPCs scattered across the venue, giving out quests for attendees to complete

🤝 Friendly guests and fellow geeks who made the atmosphere so welcoming and fun
Photographers offering professional shoots so you could fully capture your character
And let me just say — I am not a cosplayer, but the photographers really worked their magic. They made me look like I belonged in a Viking saga. The photos turned out amazing, and I’ll treasure them forever.
Everyone was in costume. Everyone was in character. And everyone was having the time of their lives.
The event ticket was also super affordable — the VIP pass was only ₱1,000, and it included access to all main activities and the evening feast.
The Viking Night Feast: Rain, Candles & Good Company
One of the most memorable parts of the weekend? The night feast.
Just as we were preparing for dinner, a heavy rainstorm rolled in, and a brownout hit the entire resort. But honestly? That just made the experience feel even more authentic.
We ended up dining like true medieval folk — with candles lighting the long tables, the rain pounding outside, and the warm smell of roasted meats filling the air.
While we feasted, performers sang Nordic songs and danced, bringing the spirit of the North alive in the stormy night. It felt like we had stepped into a Viking hall celebration.

Frost Faire PH in Bacolod might not be as big as some metro-based events, but what it lacks in scale it more than makes up for in immersion, heart, and community. From the Viking vibes to the spontaneous candlelit feast, it was everything I hoped for and more.
