Puppet’s Dream
A Poem by Allana Alberto
My makers did not want me
But they tied me these strings
Said I could do wonderful things
They taught me how to dance
They taught me how to sing
I am their little plaything
As they pull the string
I am not like the others
Creatures that roam free
I am delicate yet precious
I was made from a tree
Without the strings I would not be alive
But I never was to begin with
I can never eat, I can never breathe
I can never walk, I can never flee
I was never free
But I want to be
